JPP arrests a 'sad reflection' on WA - Greens


The Australian Greens said today the arrest and forcible removal of protesters from James Price Point is an indictment on the process being undertaken to develop a LNG hub in the area.

WA Senators Rachel Siewert and Scott Ludlam have today called for the Environment Minister to put a stop to any land clearing at James Price Point until heritage and environmental assessments have been completed.

James Price Point development risks pristine environment

The Australian Greens have reaffirmed their opposition to the industrialisation of WA's pristine Kimberley coast.

"The Australian Greens do not believe that James Price Point is an appropriate site for this gas factory," Senator Rachel Siewert said today.

"We are concerned by the approach taken by the WA Government, which effectively asks the Traditional Owners to approve the project in exchange for the health, housing and job prospects that they are already entitled to as members of the community.

Compulsory acquisition wrong, say Greens


The Australian Greens have criticised the WA Government’s decision to compulsory acquire land for a resources project at James Price Point, saying important human rights and environmental issues are being ignored.

Senator Rachel Siewert, Greens spokesperson for Aboriginal Issues says the compulsory land acquisition is not acceptable and is a step backwards from meaningful reconciliation.
