Disabled people forgotten again in COVID-19 response

The Australian Greens have called on the Morrison Government to urgently prioritise disabled people, and disability support workers, in the national vaccine roll out after it was revealed that just 6.5% of this cohort have received their first dose.

Greens demand immediate action to address unemployment rise for people with disability

Australian Greens spokesperson on Disability Senator Rachel Siewert has labelled a decline in work force participation for people with disability over 20 years as ‘a sign that our government is not doing nearly enough to create equity in the workplace for people with disability’.

“Figures revealed yesterday by the Bureau of Statistics show that a higher percentage of people with a disability were employed or looking for work in the 90’s than in 2012.

Access All Areas App - Greens open new front in push for greater disability access

The Australian Greens have developed and launched a smartphone app that will allow people with disability, family, friends and the community to report accessibility trouble spots from anywhere around the country.

"The Greens have created this app to provide people with a simple method for reporting accessibility trouble spots with their phone whenever they experience them," Senator Rachel Siewert, Australian Greens spokesperson on disability services, said today.
