ABCC should be abolished now

The Government has run out of excuses to repeal the special building construction industry legislation and abolish the ABCC with the release of the Wilcox Report, say the Australian Greens.

"The Greens welcome the finding by Murray Wilcox that the Building and Construction Industry Improvement Act should be abolished and the Fair Work Act regulate industrial relations in the building and construction industry." said Senator Rachel Siewert.

"The Government must now act with urgency to repeal this undemocratic law."

ABCC rallies show need for immediate change

The Australian Greens have put their support behind rallies against the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) in both Perth and Melbourne today, pointing to the immediate need for the abolition of the ABCC.

"The ABCC represents the former Government's Work Choices agenda at its most extreme, but the current ALP Government is yet to address these injustices," said Senator Rachel Siewert today.

The Australian Greens today succeeded in getting a new Senate Inquiry called into the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC), as a first step towards the eventual abolition of the Commission.
