The Australian Greens have welcomed the release of the Central Australia Renal Study, saying the report highlights the need for ongoing Federal Government leadership.
"This report was commissioned because of the growing need for dialysis in central Australia and the lack of adequate action from Governments at a State, Territory and Federal level," Senator Rachel Siewert, Australian Green spokesperson for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Issues said today.
"While the Greens welcome the Federal Government's additional commitment of funding for accommodation, the overall commitment needs to be far greater.
"The Federal Government must show leadership and provide more support, otherwise we face being back in the same position we were before.
"Everyone knows there are growing needs and a lack of resources being provided. This report points us in the right direction and now the hard work of co-ordination and leadership must begin," Senator Siewert concluded.
