The Australian Greens have secured an additional five million dollars to boost childcare services around the country, including 21 centres in Western Australia.

Greens Senator for Western Australia Rachel Siewert said grants of up to $5000 will be directed to services in areas of disadvantage.

"This will greatly benefit communities across the state - with grants for 21 centres throughout Geraldton, Derby, Wyndham, Quairading, Kununurra, Roebuck, Broome, Newman, Katanning, Carnarvon, Northam and Collie," she said. "We are determined to see greater access to better resourced childcare services in regional Western Australia."

Greens Senator for Western Australia Scott Ludlam said the funding would help services improve and adapt to the new National Quality Framework.

"The Australian Greens worked hard to get this extra funding that will see significant improvements to staff skills, workplace health and safety and new learning and play materials for children," he said.

"We are 100 per cent committed to seeing our regional towns and communities get the quantity of services they need and the quality of service they deserve. This is a big win for Western Australia."
