The Greens call on the PM to immediately reject proposal to make savings out of vulnerable people

The Australian Greens have called on the Prime Minister to immediately reject any proposal to expand robo-debt to vulnerable Australians.

“The Government is proposing to make savings out of the most vulnerable members of our community, after throwing millions and millions in tax cuts to the wealthy” said Senator Rachel Siewert, Australian Greens spokesperson on Family and Community Services.

“Is there no depths to which this Government will not sink? The Government made up the so called savings in the first place and now wants to target older Australians, disabled Australians, homeless Australians and those in remote areas, that is First Nations peoples, to make up these ‘savings’.

"The Prime Minister must lay down the law and make it clear that these people won’t be targeted for mythical savings."
