West Atlas Oil Spill

On Friday 28th August 2009, Rachel chartered a plane and flew over the site of the West Atlas oil platform spill. Her visit showed that the spill was far greater than had originally been reported.

Denmark Environment Centre Fire

On July 4th 2009, the community owned Denmark Environment Centre, which houses the head office of Green Skills was completely gutted by fire.Green Skills has been a long term resident of the community owned building since 1989 when it operated as a project of APACE AID. Green Skills has since grown to include offices in Perth and Albany and became an independent incorporated organisation in 1998.

On Tuesday 12th February 2008, people from all around Australia came together for “Convergence on Canberra”, calling for an immediate review of the NT Intervention, restoration of the Racial Discrimination Act, Aboriginal control of Aboriginal affairs, and implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous peoples.
