On July 4th 2009, the community owned Denmark Environment Centre, which houses the head office of Green Skills was completely gutted by fire.
Green Skills has been a long term resident of the community owned building since 1989 when it operated as a project of APACE AID. Green Skills has since grown to include offices in Perth and Albany and became an independent incorporated organisation in 1998.
In addition to the quality environmental work carried out by its staff, Green Skills has made a significant economic contribution to both Denmark and the state, has provided employment permanent and casual work opportunities in the region, and worked with a variety of project partners and the community towards a more sustainable future.
The loss of the head office is an emotional blow to staff, supporters, clients and colleagues, Green Skills is continuing its activities as usual in our Perth and Albany offices.
If you would like to contribute to rebuilding the Denmark Environment Centre, the details are:
Building Appeal DEC, PO Box 142 Denmark, 6333
or Internet Transfer Bankwest BSB 306 009 a/c 415971-4

While the fire has been a devastating blow, the Green Skills team are resilient in their efforts to resume business as usual and continue working for a sustainable future. The Green Phoenix is rising.
